Beth H. Chaney, PhD, MCHES®, FAAHE
Elizabeth (Beth) H. Chaney, Ph.D., MCHES® is a Professor in the Department of Health Science, at The University of Alabama. Dr. Chaney received her B.S. in Biology and M.A. in Health Studies from The University of Alabama and her Ph.D. in Health Education from Texas A&M University in August 2006.
Dr. Chaney has served on the Board of Directors for the American Association for Health Education (AAHE) and on the Board of Trustees for the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE). She currently serves on the Board of Commissioners (BOC) for the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. (NCHEC). As a Board member of NCHEC’s BOC, Dr. Chaney served as Chair (2012) and Immediate Past Chair (2013). Currently, Dr. Chaney serves as the Chair for NCHEC’s Marketing Committee.
Dr. Chaney’s research focal areas include instrument development and program evaluation in health education. Dr. Chaney has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, with funding from the U.S. Department of Education, Pro-Change Behavior Systems, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, and the American Cancer Society. In addition, Dr. Chaney has presented over 150 presentations at national, state, and regional conferences.
Dr. Chaney has been recognized as an AAHE Fellow, AAHE’s Horizon Award recipient, and the Early Career Award recipient from the American Public Health Association’s Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section (PHEHP).
